Two Cards My Phone Broke

Two cards failing together suggests the phone is the common cause. It is unlikely that two separate cards failed independently at the same time — far more likely the phone did something to both, whether a fault that corrupted their controllers, a power problem, or physical stress on the card slots. That shared cause does not mean the photos are lost; it means both cards carry a similar fault brought on by the phone, and both are approached the same way.

Unrecognised in every device is a fault below what software can reach. Cards not recognised in any device are not presenting themselves at all — and recovery software needs a card to present before it can scan. That is why the free tools and apps found nothing: there was nothing for them to talk to, because the fault is at the controller or connection level, beneath where any app operates. Their failure reflects the level of the fault, not the absence of photos.

The photos are very likely intact in the memory behind the fault. A controller or connection fault stops a card presenting, but it does not erase the memory chip where the photos live. The images sit in NAND that the faulty controller can no longer expose — and reaching them means restoring controller access on professional equipment, or reading the memory directly. The fault is about access, not existence, which is what keeps recovery realistic.

The honest prognosis is cautiously good, stated per card. Cards with controller faults and intact memory typically return their photos, whether through controller access or chip-off; the genuine unknown is whether the phone's fault physically damaged either card's memory, which is established from the read. Both cards are worked, the recoverable photos from each confirmed at assessment before any charge — and combined, the chance of recovering the precious images from at least one, and likely both, is real.
